October IS....
Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
Boxers or Briefs?
Don't get your panties in a knot, stressing out by the state of your underwear drawers! And if you read my last e-newsletter all the way through, you would have caught another tip about nightstand drawer organizing. "No, Kids! Those are NOT cool new water balloons that you found in Mommy and Daddy's nightstand drawer! Put those down!"

....So your dresser drawers and night stand drawers are super personal and INTIMATE (yeah, another bad pun), right? It's nervewracking calling in a Professional Organizer to go through all of your stuff, moving it all around, seeing it "all hang out" so to speak.

I like to use the metaphor that Hiring a Professional Organizer is like going in for surgery. You have to lay there, naked on the surgeon's table, letting it "all hang out," totally vulnerable, anxious and embarrassed--not to mention worried how it's all going to turn out. The surgeon explains how the procedure works, helps ease your anxiety, let's you know he's there with you the whole time, that he's done this a million times over--it's a standard procedure. He isn't phased by your exposed self, doesn't get squimish by the blood and guts, and knows just what to do. At the end, he's got you all stitched up, back in place, disease removed, and you're feeling much better, and the surgery went great.

Toss out panties and boxers you don't like wearing whether it's for style, texture or cut. Toss 'em if they have holes, tears, don't fit properly for your body, give you the dreaded Muffin Top or "Camel's Toe." Incessant Wedgie Problems are another good reason to discard undies.

Do Your Bras Fit Correctly and Comfortably?

**About 90% of western women wear bras, but about 75–85% of women who wear bras are wearing the wrong size.

**Researchers have found a link between obesity and inaccurate bra measurement.

**A badly fitted bra can contribute to a variety of health problems, including back pain, breast pain, neck and shoulder pain, numbness and tingling in the arm, and headaches.

**Many women mistakenly believe bras prevent breasts from sagging. In fact, breasts naturally sag as a woman ages, depending on her breast size and other factors. Some researchers have found evidence that wearing a bra may actually contribute to sagging because they weaken the supporting ligaments.

TIP: Get Sized Regularly, at least once, if not twice, a year--After Weight Gain or Loss, After Pregnancy, Birth, Breastfeeding, Surgery, You Need New Bras, etc.

**Women also wear bras for physical purposes, including restricting their breast movement during certain physical activities, supporting sagging breasts to give a more youthful appearance, supporting prosthetics after surgery, or to facilitate breastfeeding. Some specialized bras are designed for nursing or exercise. Wearing a bra can boost a woman's self-confidence.

**The bra has become a feminine icon or symbol with cultural significance beyond its primary function of supporting breasts. It is increasingly common for celebrities to appear braless in public. Some feminists consider the brassiere a symbol of the repression of women's bodies. Culturally, when a young girl gets her first bra, it may be seen as a rite of passage and symbolic of her coming of age.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month--Organize Your Bra Drawer!
The American Cancer Society’s estimates for breast cancer in women in the United States for 2013 are:

-About 232,340 new cases of invasive breast cancer

-About 64,640 new cases of carcinoma in situ (CIS) of the breast will be found (CIS is non-invasive and is the earliest form of breast cancer).

-About 39,620 deaths from breast cancer
cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States, other than skin cancer. It is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer.

-The chance of a woman having invasive breast cancer during her life is about 1 in 8.

-The chance of dying from breast cancer is about 1 in 36.

-Breast cancer death rates have been going down. This is probably the result of finding the cancer earlier and better treatment.

-Right now there are more than 2.8 million breast cancer survivors in the United States.
