No Maybe Piles when De-Cluttering: Yes or No. Trust Your Gut.
Say No to Maybe
When doing an Initial Session with my clients, it's not long into the session before my client asks to create a Maybe pile, or put this aside to think about till later. "Nope--make a decision now. Trust your gut. Do you love it, want it, need it, sentimental? Or is it a maybe? If it's a maybe, it's likely a no--don't keep it."

I once read, that if you aren't going to re-buy it in a store, then it's a good indicator you don't really want it. I also use the 1-10 scale when coaching my clients on what to keep/not keep. "On a scale of 1-10 how much do you LOVE this item?" If it's not a 7-10, feel ok about parting with it. If it's a mediocre 5-6, then you are already leaning towards a "No" not a "Yes!" If it's a 5 or less, you'll likely feel good about purging it. Keep things that are sentimental, but all other things you don't LOVE/Want/Need--Donate to a Local Charity.

I always tell clients not to decorate their homes or keep clothes in their closets that aren't a 7 and up. That pair of black sweat pants might not be a dressy 9, but they are practical, used frequently, wash clean every time and super comfortable--that's a 7+. Now, if you have that same pair that has holes in it and is 8 years old and raggedy--time to buy a new pair of black sweats. If it's a shirt that you spent money on, had the intent of wearing it, but turns out you don't like the fit on your body--that's under a 5--Purge it!

Don't keep things in your wardrobe that cause you to cringe when you try to get dressed in the morning. The last thing you want to do when you are getting ready is feel flustered, overwhelmed, fat or can't wear anything because you don't love your clothes.

The Clothes Wear YOU--if they don't worship your body, donate them!
